He completed his MBBS from University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS), Delhi (1981), MS from Vardhman Mahavir Medical College & Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi (1986), and MCh (Genito-Urinary Surgery) from Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Medical College, Jaipur (1988/1991). He holds a Fellowship in Kidney Transplant & Reno-Vascular Surgery from the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA (1995) and a Fellowship/Diploma in Ureteroscopy from Clinica La Luz, Madrid, Spain (1994).
